PALM SUNDAY, HOLY WEEK AND EASTER SUNDAY
PRAYER OF ST. PIO OF PIETRELCINA (“PADRE PIO”)
PALM SUNDAY
•        For Palm Sunday, April 5th palms will NOT be left outside the front door of the churches. The archdiocese has given us the
directive not to distribute due to the handling of the palm branches by many people.  The palms will be held at the church to distribute
at a later date.
RECONCILIATION MONDAY
•        Reconciliation Monday, April 6th, is cancelled.  However, confessions will be held on Saturday, April 4th at 1:30-2:30pm at
St. Christopher.  For Holy Saturday, April 11th, confessions will not be heard, as no sacraments can be celebrated on Holy Saturday,
except in cases of emergency.
HOLY WEEK AND EASTER SUNDAY
•        The Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday, April 9th, the Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion on Good Friday, April 10th,
the Vigil of the Lord’s Resurrection on April 11th, and Easter Sunday Masses on April 12th will not be celebrated publicly.
•        Even though all these Masses and Liturgies of Holy Week are not open to the public, please know that we are offering Mass
each day for the announced intentions and that we are specifically praying for you at each Mass.
YOUR SUPPORT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED
•        Please continue to support your parish by mailing in your offering envelopes, dropping them through the mail slot in the
St. Christopher Rectory door (behind the storm door), or by enrolling in We Share (click the “We Share” tab on the homepage of the
website or call the parish office for help).  We are always grateful for your generosity and support of the parish. Thank you for all who
have continued to support the parish during this time.  It is greatly appreciated.
STAY CONNECTED
•        Our parish website (www.stcstmmsi.org)  and FlockNotes (sent to you by email or by text) are the best ways to get current
information and to stay connected as a parish family – please spread the word! To register for FlockNotes, please see the website.

PRAYER OF ST. PIO OF PIETRELCINA (“PADRE PIO”)
Please keep praying as we enter into our holiest weeks of the year, for all those who are suffering, dying, worrying, or working.
Here is a prayer from St. Pio of Pietrelcina (“Padre Pio”) written as a post-Communion prayer, but which is also good when
feeling anxious, afraid or worried:
Stay with me, Lord, for it is necessary to have you present so that I do not forget you.
You know how easily I abandon you.
Stay with me, Lord, because I am weak, and I need your strength, so that I may not fall so often.
Stay with me, Lord, for you are my life, and without you, I am without fervor.
Stay with me, Lord, for you are my light, and without you, I am in darkness.
Stay with me, Lord, to show me your will.
Stay with me, Lord, so that I hear your voice and follow you.
Stay with me, Lord, for I desire to love you very much, and always be in your company.
Stay with me, Lord, if you wish me to be faithful to you.
Stay with me, Lord, for as poor as my soul is, I want it to be a place of consolation for you, a nest of love.
Amen.

Mary, Health of the Sick, pray for us.
St. Christopher, pray for us.
St. Margaret Mary, pray for us.

CLARIFICATIONS
A few clarifications about how things will be at St. Christopher and St. Margaret Mary for the time being:
•        Even though Masses are not open to the public, please know that we are offering Mass each day for the announced
intentions and that we are specifically praying for you at each Mass.
•
St. Christopher Church will be open daily for private prayer and devotion from 7:30am to 4:30pm.  We WILL have
exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays, as usual.  On Sundays, St. Margaret Mary
Church will be open from 8:00am to 11:30am.
•        When you enter either church you may wash your hands in the bathroom in the vestibule.
•        For now, our parish office is open as usual (and closed for St. Patrick’s Day).
•
PLEASE DO NOT ENTER ANY OF OUR BUILDINGS IF YOU FEEL ILL.  This is a matter of love for one another.
•        Public Stations of the Cross are cancelled, but you can always pray them on your own at St. Christopher’s.
We will leave the booklets out.
•        We do not have information now as to how current restrictions will affect First Holy Communion, Holy Week and Easter.
We will share information as it becomes available.
•        Right now we will have baptisms with only a very limited number of immediate family members permitted to attend.
•        In the event of the death of a loved one, for the time being it would be best to have the burial now and plan a memorial Mass
for the future.  When this is not possible, attendance at the funeral will be limited to immediate family (of everything I’m listing here
this is the most heartbreaking).
•        Confessions will continue as scheduled: Saturdays 1:30-2:30pm at St. Christopher.  We would ask that people not stand so
close to one another when waiting on line.
•        Your priests are available if you need to talk, either by phone or in person.
•        If someone is dying, please call the parish immediately so a priest can administer the sacraments.
•        Please continue to support your parish by mailing in your offering envelopes or by enrolling in
WeShare, a secured online
donation system (call the parish office for help to register).
We are always grateful for your generosity and support of the parish.
•        Our parish website (www.stcstmmsi.org) and Flocknotes (sent to you by email or by text) are the best ways to get current
information and to stay connected as a parish family – please spread the word!

March 17, 2020 Religious Education Announcement:

March 14, 2020 Archdiocese of New York Announcement:
MASSES CANCELED IN ARCHDIOCESE OF NEW YORK
In light of the continued concern surrounding the coronavirus, and the advice of medical experts,
all Masses in the Archdiocese of New York
will be canceled beginning this weekend, March 14-15, 2020.

This development follows upon today’s decision of Dutchess County to prohibit gatherings of more than 20 people.  It is also intended
to provide clarity and consistency throughout the ten counties that comprise the Archdiocese of New York (Manhattan, the Bronx,
Staten Island, Westchester, Putnam, Orange, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Dutchess).

Churches will, however, remain open for private prayer.

Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York, urged the faithful to remember in their prayers all those whose lives have been
impacted by the coronavirus outbreak. “Let us pray for all who are sick, as well as doctors, nurses, caregivers, and all those working
hard to combat the disease.  We should also remember those whose lives have been otherwise disrupted, especially anyone who has
lost income from a loss of work during this difficult time.”

A private Mass will be celebrated in Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, and will be available on many cable systems via the Catholic Faith
Network and its website here, livestreamed on the Saint Patrick’s Cathedral website here, and broadcast on radio on The
Catholic Channel of Sirius XM (Channel 129).
